Lot 026 - Pair of Antique Green-Patinated Bookends with Two Putti / Cherubs in Relief, Signed and Dated 1903, Manufactured by WAL Co., 5" H eachPair of antique bookends, each depicting two putti in high relief with arms raised against a textured backdrop. The bookends have a green patina with bronze toned highlights on the figures. One bookend is signed and dated 1903 in the lower front corner. Each bookend is marked on the back side with a diamond shaped cartouche reading "WAL Co." with "TRADE MARK" text below the diamond. The pair shows wear to the patina with areas of exposed base metal,
housed in a split lacquered case featuring mother-of-pearl inlay
but it is likely the work of a student studying the topic

The blade shows oxidation and darkening across the surface
