wooden viking shipThe woodcarving depicts a Viking ship preparing for war (on the open sea, shields were hauled inside). Ships such as this sailed throughout the whole of Europe to raid, make war, but principally to trade. The woodcarving is entirely handmade and measures 22 x 25 cm.

They were in use from around 900 to 1000 AD
and is now held within the collection of the National Museum of Copenhagen
