The sword was highly popular and was used throughout the Hellenistic world, reaching as far as Iraq, India, and Italy. Its short blade rendered it well suited to use as a thrusting weapon amongst the tight shield formations of the phalanx.

The sword has a length of 116 cm and a blade of 90 cm
