Payne Fiberglass Rod 7'For sale here is a not often seen Payne fiberglass rod made by South Bend. It comes from the estate of Joseph Bates and was purchased through Oliver's auction. 7 feet in length, two sections, for a 4 or 5 weight line. Rod is in excellent condition. Comes with original rod bag and tube.
Weighs 4 1/8 oz
Gold-anodized aluminum down-locking reel seat with some very minor use marks
smooth medium-fast action with plenty of power from the swelled butt and fine tips to allow for finesse and tippet protection
The case measures 15" x 11" x 6" - this a larger than the current XXL size listed on the Fishpond website
The rod is in excellent plus original condition with no issues
Not sure I've ever seen one in better condition
The Swiss-style ferrules are size 13/64 with a perfect fit
I'm not sure what more you can say about this reel other than that it is one of the finest reels made today
The reel is in very good condition with wear around the edges
