Theme Building

Theme BuildingThe Theme Building is a very bittersweet building for me, it's the first thing you see as you fly into LA, as well as the last thing you glimpse before you leave. Its either marking the beginning of a new adventure or the end of a journey. So every time I see it Im flooded with mixed emotions. Part of what makes it so memorable is its distinctive Googie style, which perfectly captures that 1950s retro futuristic vibe, it feels like something straight

The Capitol Records Building is instantly recognisable with its distinctive design that mimics a stack of records on a turntable

and the history all come together in the perfect experience

There’s a viewing spot right across the road where planes soar so close overhead

I could happily spend hours wandering those streets

they’re essentially just overhangs with minimal structural support

if not more so

it’s an early example of Wright’s textile block style

I have driven by the iconic sign a few times though

the response was incredible and honestly surprising

but I’ve always loved those classic American-style motels

I’ve only been to this In-N-Out once

frozen in time
