complete with the wild swings in dynamics that the recording captures so well

and whether they really believed they did or not

you would want to work your setup magic at home with this record

That looseness and raggedness results in some startlingly emotional peaks -- "Many Rivers To Cross" and "Don't Forget Me" are positively spine-tingling -- and some good-natured romps through classic covers like "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and "Rock Around The Clock

but this copy manages to fix that problem (mostly) without sacrificing transparency or top end

but it’s a kick to hear top jazz musicians laying down these grooves and not taking themselves so seriously
