Dana is at the top of the list of worldwide cane rod makers and it's well known that his waiting list for a new rod is ~ seven years. This rod has been fished very sparingly but remains in near mint condition. 7 1 2 feet in length. Two sections with two tips. Medium fast action for a five weight line. Ferrule

The rod was custom built for a customer desiring one of Walt's rods in the classic Payne cosmetic style

these rods are super smooth and responsive with amazing lightness and quick recovery

There is a ding in the anodizing on the drag plate as can be seen in the photos

and the copy has some signs of handling

This is an impregnated model with a medium brown temper

The screw lock is polished bright and the ferrules oxidized

There are five bands of color at the keeper wrap which climbs up onto the front edge of the grip

The action is on the medium side but the swelled butt gives makes the rod feel a little quicker than true medium
