Orvis 1874 Original Trout Fly ReelFor sale here is a scarce original C. F. Orvis 1874 Trout Reel. The markings read "C. F. Orvis, Maker Patented Manchester, VT". With 2 7 8" diameter side plates and strong and even working click, this is a great chance to own an American classic trout reel. The nickel plated finish has worn, revealing a fairly consistent brass finish.
There are only 27 Bob Doerr models known to exist and I would venture to say that only perhaps a handful remain in such fine condition as this rod
The rod sections measure out to 27 1/2" which helps it packs up into a very transportable size
The rod is very clean and an exceptional caster
A great salmon rod here for the Miramichi or any other Canadian river for that matter
