Peace BloomsEmma Ashby grew up in England, where her deep affection for coastal landscapes was cultivated. Today, she continues to be inspired by the coastline around her home in Portsmouth NH. The medium of beadwork is evocative of cross stitch decor found in many traditional American homes and the subject matter of landscapes is an allusion to classical landscape paintings also common in many domestic spaces

each shape feels to me as intimate as it feels when you discover an emotion so deep down and so preliminary to speech that you feel too vulnerable or incapable to express it in words
