Beethoven

Beethoven"Beethoven" is the first in a group of works that I created to celebration ornamentation. I used photos of old antique ornamented pianos as inspiration. These old pianos had so much character and care put into their creation, and not only are a beautiful piece of art and furniture, but made beautiful music! These works are meant to be funky, cheerful and slightly chaotic pieces but the colours tie them all together. The title of each work is based on

A diminuendo is a musical term that indicates a decrease in loudness

and days are looking up

without the ping of technology or busy-ness of day to day life

and that this painting celebrates them

“Golden” is an original watercolour and ink painting

as the texture of the flowers extends and wraps around the wood block

joyful and inspiring

This painting was inspired by a photo that my Dad took on one of his legendary afternoon drives

I was staying with a group of friends in a cabin to do some singing at a choral retreat

I had my reference photo constantly at my side

The sky was so clear and beautiful and in my imagination
