Custom Bucking Iron for Traditional Copper Rivets Used In Wooden BoatbuildingA bucking iron is set against the nail head so that it doesn't back out while setting the copper rove over the nail or during the peening process. The bucking iron included here has one end slightly rounded for flush nail heads, and a narrow tapered end for countersunk nails. I have modeled these based off of a set made by my instructor while I attended the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. These tools are both made from 1 1 2" shock resistant

Price includes a pair of trays with matching 3D printed dovetail bars

on a manual metal lathe

Simply stack the roves inside

No install necessary

Please note what taper size you need

The trays slide onto small dovetail shaped bars

but students of mine have used a pair to successfully drill out several hundred roves

Sometimes the stock hole in a copper rove is just a **little** too tight to drive the nail through

The mounting angle is customizable

and the height and depth of the lip on your lathes backsplash

with no tools needed

Care must be taken to screw the cap on just tight enough to clamp the roves
