Memlinc

MemlincA Watts & Co. exclusive design, 'Memlinc' was designed by G. F. Bodley around 1870. The inspiration seems to be a patterned robe from The Presentation in the Temple, a painted panel from the Sankt Wolfgang Altarpiece (1485) by Michael Pacher. However, a similar design can also be seen in the work of Hans Memling from around 1479, hence the fabric's name. The large scale pattern is typical of the architectural quality inherent in all Bodley's designs

It is called St Hubert after a patterned robe worn in the foreground of 'The Exhumation of St Hubert' by Rogier van der Weyden
