Ben ArthurAxminster Carpet originated in the town of Axminster, England in the 1700s. Axminster provides tremendous flexibility by offering up to 16 colors in a carpet. One end of yarn is tied to a spool for each tuft in the design. This allows for very intricate design work. As the loom is operated, one bracket at a time is lowered and the yarn strands are inserted into the carpet face. They are caught between the warp threads and bound tightly by the weft.
