Strike II

Strike IISurveying the terrain, the Short eared Owl adjusted its flight path, hovering briefly as its keen hearing detected movement beneath the snow. Then, with impressive speed, it swooped down, talons forward, striking with unerring accuracy to catch the concealed vole.

This spring in the marsh the mating season has been fruitful with respect to wildlife photography

touched by the soft hues of early dawn

Silent evening sky

now shrouded in twilight

that the Short-eared Owl sat—a living portrait perfectly captured against nature's canvas

at home in this serene environment

At dawn's gentle glow

It was here

casting a blue hue over the endless stretch of white

Silent wings lifted
