Pastoral Scene At Dusk With Blood-Red SkyA late 19th century oil on wood depicting a beautiful pastoral view across distant hills before a blood red sky. The brushwork feels fluid and impressionistic, so perhaps this was painted en plein air, while the artist caught the last of the evenings glow. Towards the foreground, the two cows are little more than six or seven brush marks, while the reeds are just quickly sketched in. The painting is housed within a gilded swept frame with coved sides
